With a herbal fairy, we dive into forgotten knowledge to discover the natural powers of alpine plants. The easy hike leads along the valley path of the Pflersch Valley to the herb garden, with its many rarities. At the end, the herb gardeners of the Wipptal invite you to a tasting at the herb manufactory at the Botenhof. The Lipper Sawmill, an impressive example of traditional woodworking from the 18th century, can be experienced up close during a guided tour with live demonstration. Visitors are immersed in the history of alpine craftsmanship and learn fascinating details about the technology, working methods, and historical significance of the sawmill for the region.

We take the bus from Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente to the GEOPARC Bletterbach visitor center. There, the guided tour of the museum begins before you descend into the impressive gorge. Explore the narrow Taubenleck section and the Butterloch before enjoying a relaxing break at a mountain hut. We then follow the European long-distance hiking trail E5 towards Weissenstein | Pietralba, passing through the Kösertal valley (1696 m) until we reach Maria Weissenstein. For the return to Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente, you can either take the bus or walk back independently (walking time approx. 1.5 hours). Along the path you will see more than 25 works of art set in an alpine forest, among the fir trees and pastures of a stretch of unspoilt nature. This is a permanent exhibition of sculptures acquired as a result of the SMACH art competition, the Dolomites Biennale. After the guided tour in the Val dl’Ert you can independently visit the Ladin Museum where you can immerse yourself in the history, culture and traditions of the Ladin people. From growing fodder to rearing calves, to livestock farming with dairy products and processing them into tasty yogurt, butter and cheese. Even the energy is generated directly on the farm. Gala, Kanzi, Fuji, Red Delicious – these illustrious names represent four of the total of 18 varieties of apple that flourish in the sunny orchards tended by South Tyrol's farmers. Crisp, juicy and fresh, famed as a vitamin bomb and popular well beyond the borders of the region, there is plenty to learn about the South Tyrolean apple. Did you know, for example, that the apple originally came from Kazakhstan? Or that one in three of all organic apples harvested in Europe comes from South Tyrol? Together with apple grower Christine we set out on a journey of discovery through the local apple orchards. Our charming and knowledgeable guide shares plenty of interesting and curious facts about the apple growing industry in South Tyrol, about organic and integrated cultivation, the different varieties, the ingenious methods of naturally-derived plant protection and the protected designation of geographical origin. During the subsequent tasting of the different apple varieties participants can enjoy talking shop about the apples’ flavours and textures and their personal favourites. There will also be plenty of time to ask questions of our expert.

Within one hour you will get to know the most interesting Hofer objects and some unknown history. The discovery tour leads mainly through the "Heroes & Hofer" trail, but an overview of the entire museum is also available on request. The guided tour is only available in German.

Since the time of the Romans, wine has been cultivated on the sunny slopes of the Wipptal. Today, 2000 years later, there are once again some pioneers who utilize the milder climate for viticulture. Peter Faistnauer is one of them; he operates the first winery in the Wipptal. Since 2015, he has been cultivating the white wine variety Solaris. After visiting the vineyards, the special wine will be tasted in the old barn. Dogs are not allowed. It is not possible to navigate the paths with a stroller, and the entire tour is not wheelchair accessible. The tour begins in the grain store of Steinhaus, the former warehouse of the mining industry. Afterwards, our guides will lead you through the historic centre of Steinhaus, a unique sight in South Tyrol that was created thanks to the mining industry. The striking red houses, such as the factor house, the Gassegg residence and the church Maria Loreto, as well as the smelting hut are explained.
