A guided botanical walk along the Solda panorama path: Starting in the village centre, we walk past the parish church of St. Gertraud to panorama trail no. 7, which we follow into the valley past meadows, pastures, woods and small streams to the valley station of the Solda cable car. There we switch to the opposite side of the valley, with its sunny and dry slopes. We now return to our starting point with a splendid view of the north face of the Ortler mountain along panorama trail no. 6. From Lago Smeraldo (Fondo - TN)) we hike on an easy path to Malga di Fondo -1480m- and continue through wide meadows and fields towards the Felixerweiher or Tretsee lake. After refreshments at the local inn, we enjoy the dark green water of the lake with its natural beauty and then hike back down to St. Felix through wonderfully fragrant larch forests. The folk dance group “Grupa Balarins de Gherdëina Urtijëi” was founded in 1963 and has been active without interruption since then. The group dances traditional folk dances based on a long tradition thereunder typical dances for thanksgiving, dances having the intent to attract the other gender and also typical “Schuhplattler”. The “Schuhplattler” dances are demonstrated by male dancers only. All dancers are wearing the “Grödner-Tracht” (traditional costume) which is known as one of the most beautiful and most precious of the alpine area. Due to numerous performances in our country as well as abroad and on TV, the group is very well known far beyond South Tyrol.

In addition to tips for identifying and collecting herbs, we will learn about their effects and various processing methods. How a team of experts is dealing with landslides and floods. Climate change and slope instability are causing hydrogeological disruptions. Thanks to expert teams of geologists, firemen, engineers and rescue volunteers, emergencies are dealt with and the area made safe. We will listen to their experiences during this evening at the hall of the San Cassiano volunteer fire brigade, which will show us their special rescue means and equipment. Lying on a meadow overlooking the village and the entire valley, close to the forest towards Pian di Maia, is a small, simple wooden building. The building at first glance appears very modest, but stands proud and aware of its incredible significance and history. Between those planks, in fact, the famous Bohemian composer Gustav Mahler, accompanied by his beloved Alma, between the summers of 1908 and 1910, found peace and inspiration to compose some of his most beautiful and important symphonies, among them 'Das Lied von der Erde' (The Song of the Earth). After careful restoration, the composition house at the Trenkerhof finally reopens its doors to all those who want to breathe in the history and atmosphere of the Belle Epoque. During the Mahler Music Weeks in cooperation with the Santer Family, the owner of the cultural property, every visitor will have the opportunity to step back in time and breathe in the magic of those places and the surrounding nature.
