Villanders/Villandro, Brixen/Bressanone and environs
The Villanders mine in the Eisack Valley, with a wide view of the Dolomites, was one of the most important mining areas in Tyrol in the Middle Ages. At that time, silver, galena, copper and much more were mined. The Villanders Culture and Museum Association has carefully restored the mine in recent years. It is now one of the few mines in South Tyrol that is open to visitors.
Guided tours only from April to October on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 and 14:30, Sundays at 10:30 (duration approx. 1.5 h) In July & August additionally on Wednesdays at 10:30 (duration approx. 2 h).
IMPORTANT: arrive at the mine at least 10 minutes in advance!

Guided Törggele Hike with Helmut or Hubert
Experience the golden autumn in South Tyrol on our traditional Törggele hike!
On five Thursdays in October (2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th of October), we will guide you through the picturesque landscape of Gufidaun – Fonteklaus – Albions – Lajener Ried.
What to expect:
A leisurely hike (approx. 3.5 hours) through colorful autumn forests and vineyards
Cozy get-together at the Buchnerhof with traditional Törggele delicacies
Comfortable return by bus (arrival back at around 3:30 pm)

The farmers sell their fresh products at the square "Tinneplatz" from 8:00 - 12:30. Fresh, seasonal food and typical South Tyrolean products are available at the farmers' market in Klausen.

Experience roasting chestnuts with farmer and wood carver Herbert Kerschbaumer. He explains how to properly collect, carve and roast chestnuts. The chestnuts are then tasted. You are welcome to visit the workshop with the hand-carved wooden figures.

During the 28th Chestnut Weeks there is a varied program with guided tours, hikes, tastings and much more!. Discover pleasures of the chestnut from the rural cuisine and wine cellar at the period of the traditional "Törggelen".

The hiking guide will accompany you on this easy circular hike through mountain pine fields to the demonstration distillery at Marzuner Schupfe. Here, you’ll gain an interesting insight into the distillation process, from the mountain pine to the essential oil.
For the lunch break, a mountain hut will be visited alternately.

Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere.
Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.
