Not only in the Sarentino Valley, the valley of the mountain pines, does the mountain pine grow, but also on the acidic silicate soils of the Villandro Alp. The power of this mountain plant is immense. The beneficial and fragrant essential oil is perfect for relaxing baths, for infusions and compresses, or as an ingredient in scrubs. In an aroma lamp, the scent helps to improve the room atmosphere. Every Monday, a distillation demonstration takes place. All interested visitors can gain insight into how the mountain pine is processed into essential oil.

The "Tartscher Bühel" is a special place of power in Val Venosta. From Staben we follow the beautiful Schnalser Waalweg below Schluss Juval via Tschars to Kastelbell Castle. This path leads along the longest and most important watercourse in the Venosta Valley. Built in 1872/73, the irrigation canal with its strong water flow is still used today to irrigate many cultivated areas in the valley. The hay baths in Fiè allo Sciliar have been practiced since 1903. During this guided tour, we will tell you about the culture and the healing effect of the hay bath. The hay bath originated from a tradition of the farmers who took their night's lodging in the hay barn during haymaking and noticed that after a night in the hay the tiredness of the previous day was blown away. Those who spend their wellness holidays around the Alpe di Siusi can relax in the hay according to an old tradition. The medicinal herbs such as thyme, arnica, cinquefoil and gentian unfold their full effect when you sweat. The grass for the hay bath, interspersed with the many medicinal herbs, is mown exclusively on unfertilised meadows, early in the morning or late in the evening, in order to preserve all the essential essences.

Between three and seven farms built and managed the municipal mills in the gorge of Bulla. The Church of St Johann in Taufers was built around 1220. The Romanesque church building has the shape of a Greek cross. The fully painted groined vault shows Byzantine influences, and the frescoes from the late Romanesque period are also worth seeing. The tour through the open-air area leads past historic log buildings such as the grain mill, the granary, the baking oven and the farmhouse, as well as the loden fulling mill, the apiary and the bowling alley. The guided tour takes one hour and starts at the museum entrance. The guided tour is only available in German.

Up above Martell Valley, lies the Niederhof at an altitude of 1,650 m. Take a guided tour of the original farm museum, providing an insight into life on a mountain farm in the past and present. Afterwards, home-made farm products can be tasted against surcharge.

The church of St Veit stands on the Tartscher Bühel hill. The Romanesque church from the 11th century houses frescoes inside, some of which are badly damaged. The entire west wall is filled with a cycle of paintings (fragments) dating from the 16th century. With a herbal fairy, we dive into forgotten knowledge to discover the natural powers of alpine plants. The easy hike leads along the valley path of the Pflersch Valley to the herb garden, with its many rarities. At the end, the herb gardeners of the Wipptal invite you to a tasting at the herb manufactory at the Botenhof. -- Cun la roda -- Starting from Ortisei we ride moderately uphill for about 2 km in S.Cristina direction. On our way, we pass the little church of St. Jacob. In S.Cristina we leave the paved road and ride uphill towards the Gamsblut mountain hut and reach the Fermeda hut. From here we can enjoy a beautiful downhill to Rifugio Firenze and continue to Selva. From here the trail takes us through a wonderful larches forest into Vallunga in the Puez-Odle Nature Park. We reach the alpine meadows of Pra da Ri and then ride back to Selva and S.Cristina.
