Authentic Törggelen project 2018
Authentic Törggelen, as it is traditionally celebrated, can only be experienced at select Buschenschank farmhouse inns.
22 select farms that meet the strict quality criteria of the Red rooster brand, have started the “Authentic Törggelen” (Törggelen am Ursprung) project. At participating establishments, all of which are located in traditional wine-growing areas, self-pressed wines and South Tyrolean chestnuts are offered. Guests can recognise such participating establishments by the bouquet with a red band that hangs above the farmhouse door at each special farm.
The time has come on 6 October at 6 pm: To mark the start of the Törggelen season, a diverse tour programme allows guests to visit farms, chestnut groves and beekeepers. A wine tasting will also take place. Guests can sample various schnapps varieties as well as the ever-popular grape must called “Suser.” Those who appreciate hearty food can visit the ham-smoking chambers and sample South Tyrolean smoked ham. The “Keschtn” fire will be lit promptly at 7 pm and farmers will roast chestnuts along with guests.
Participating farmhouses are located in the Eisacktal valley on the Chestnut Trail (Keschtnweg), in the vineyards and chestnut groves along the wine road, in greater Bolzano/Bozen, and in the Burggrafenamt district. To participate in one of these “Authentic Törggelen” (Törggelen am Ursprung) events, guests should register well in advance with one of the various participating farms.
