Albula and Bernina Railway
The Albula and Bernina railway lines connect Italy and the Swiss town of St. Moritz. The Bernina Railway, which crosses the national border, is a joint Swiss-Italian World Heritage Site.
This route across the Albula and Bernina mountain ranges runs through high-alpine landscape in serpentines and rambling curves, making it a very unique travel experience. As a result of its spectacular construction style, this stretch of railroad is considered to be a masterpiece of the railway pioneer days. UNESCO declared the Albula and Bernina lines of the Rhaetian Railway a World Heritage Site in July 2008.
