North of Merano/Meran, the original natural landscape of the Passeiertal extends along an old long-distance trading route all the way up to the peak of the Timmelsjoch pass. Located in the middle of the Texelgruppe nature park, the home of freedom fighter Andreas Hofer offers perfect holiday conditions for families and hikers. The villages of Passeiertal valley excite with their peculiarities: In Rifiano/Riffian and Caines/Kuens, the proximity to Merano as well as the Mediterranean impact can be strongly felt. Whereas in the main villages of San Martino/St. Martin and San Leonardo/St. Leonhard are perfect starting points for hikes to higher realms. In the Hinterpasseier valley, the mining village of Moos, member of the Association “Pearls of the Alps”, the sun-spoiled village of Stulles/Stuls, as well as Corvara/Rabenstein, Plata/Platt and the high-Alpine village of Plan/Pfelders can be visited.
