Short hike to the Festenstein castle ruins. Check the opening days. Experience a moment of freedom in the historic buildings of Festenstein walls and enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Adige Valley there.
Itinerary
Starting point: Moarhof Gaid (Appiano), open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. From Gaid (605m), the little church of the 14 Nothelfer, follow path no. 15 downhill, first along a small road and then along the edge of beautiful flower meadows. The trail passes between the barn and the Kofler farmhouse and ends in a forest road. After a few metres, the steep and difficult path of the upper part of the Gaider Gorge begins on the right. Here there are wooden ladders attached to the ground. After 20 minutes from Gaid you reach the castle ruins of Festenstein (652m). Watch out for the special openings! The return is on the same path.
The gorge is very steep and only suitable for expert walkers. Attention: danger of falling rocks!

By train or bus to Terlan, continue with our city bus no. 202 (Sundays no. 216) to Andrian village.
