The Nature Park leaves a mark with its mind-blowing scenery and Dolomite peaks, but above all world-reknowned Three Peaks, which like three imposing obelisks right next to each other head up towards the sky. No less unique is the Sexten/Sesto sundial: on a cloudless day, you can tell the time by looking at the sun shining over the five peaks Neuner, Zehner (Sextner Rotwand), Elfer, Zwölfer and Einser. Similarly, the Dreischusterspitze, the Birkenkofel, the Haunold and the Paternkofel mountains make mountaineers and climbers' hearts beat faster.
Where heights are not really lofty, on larch meadows, a dense varied and colorful flora keeps thriving as a result of the microclimate. Through the scattered trees at the head of Fischlein and Innerfeldtal valleys as well as in the Gsellwiesen meadows, nature helps different plants grow depending on the season and creates a fascinating play of light and shadow on the rolling meadows.
To observe one of the most representative animals of the Nature Park, the wallcreeper, you have to climb higher. The Adler, King of the high mountains and the marmot live in Hochpustertal valley's Nature Parks. The edelweiss's stars shine at their best on wind-exposed ridges. In effect, it is where the fuzzy white grows on bracts. The Rhaetian poppy, whose delicate golden-yellow flowers enliven stony spots, is a survivor too. Its roots grew two metres deep in the scree.
