South Tyrol’s capital town has boasted an attraction for rock climbing enthusiasts, when the mountain sport company SALWEA found the perfect site to build a climbing gym in Bolzano/Bozen. After a climbing session in the gym climbers have the sensation of ‘climbing indoors, while feeling outdoors’ .Over 2000 square metres of climbing area await enthusiasts with 180 routes ranging in difficulty from 4 to 8c. The climbing walls are between 13.5 and 18 metres tall. In addition to a 9.5 metre long projection there are three 15 metre-tall speed routes indoors and in the outdoor area. Athletes are drawn especially by the dry-tooling wall on the exterior facade which provides the opportunity to train with ice axes and crampons.
