Holidays in Mölten/Meltina

Family Holidays on the sunny, high plateau above Bolzano/Bozen

Located before the dramatic landscape of the Tschögglberg mountain and surrounded by larch groves lies the village of Mölten, resting on the sunny Salten plateau high above Bolzano. Mölten is ideal for holidays with the whole family: family-friendly hiking trails, carriage rides and rides on Haflinger horses as well as child-friendly inns provide the perfect setting.
In the hamlets of Schlaneid/Salonetto, Verschneid/Frassineto and Versein/Vallesina as well as all around the main village of Mölten, farms with characteristic construction styles and churches paint a picture of tradition and authenticity. The highest sparkling wine producer in all of Europe , the “Arunda Vivaldi” is also located in Mölten.

Tradition creates continuity

The Haflinger horses and the larch meadows are closely connected to the Tschögglberg. Preserving this cultural landscape and its four-legged inhabitants matters deeply to the people who live here. The tourism organisations on the Tschögglberg focus on certified sustainability, promote targeted measures and help maintain the balance between nature, animals and people. For this commitment, the destination has been awarded the South Tyrol sustainability label.

You can experience this close connection between humans, animals and nature for yourself. From late May to October, the Haflinger horses graze on the lush meadows. Probably since 1904, the year in which the Haflinger was first officially recorded on the Tschögglberg.

For over 120 years, the Haflinger Horse Breeders’ Association has worked to preserve the distinctive characteristics of this breed. An anniversary exhibition gives you insight into their origins and shows why they remain so important to the region today.
