Bad Egart has been a restaurant since 1430 and is the oldest healing bath in Tyrol. The Platino family has transformed the restaurant into a treasure trove and museum over the years. Travel back in time at Restaurant Onkel Taa and in the Bad Egart Imperial and Royal Museum (dedicated to the Austro-Hungarian era). We are dedicated to preserving the tradition of Austro-Hungarian cuisine, but also incorporate fresh, new culinary ideas into our dishes... Every day, we are intent on offering discerning guests a creative menu of the highest quality. Whether for our exclusive dinners or a small delicacy as a snack, the ingredients for our dishes come from the region and from our own organic vegetable and herb garden. Our house specialty is escargot, which we serve seasonally and in constantly new and different ways. Janett Platino runs the kitchen, and likes to make people curious.

Traditional cuisine with fresh local products, South Tyrolean specialities and delicacies from both culinary cultures, are a big deal in our house. Home made food with the right touch of refinement: as a “village guesthouse” with tradition, the food needs to do justice to its history and reputation. Obviously with a well assorted wine-cellar. Because here, grapes are kissed by the sun.

The residence is a playful Early Renaissance building from the second half of the 16th Century. For several generations, the beautiful, romantic building has been private property and was changed into a bar and Törggele cellar. The residence consists of some oriel towers, a free-standing staircase with loggia, simple wooden ceilings and decorative frescoes. The entire residence reflects pride and beauty. Many years ago, it was protected from the road by a battlement wall.

Andrea Fenoglio seems never to run out of his creative vein, which he displays in his restaurant "Sissi" in front of the Prince’s Castle behind the Lauben arcades. His latest menu "Settepiatti" is certainly to be tried. His cuisine is a lively one, always with an eye to the playful aspect, rich of interesting sparks without forgetting the courses more related to tradition, reinterpreted in a modern key. Great attention is paid to the choice of products, always the real main characters. The informal though ever accurate service creates a cosy atmosphere up to the point of often giving the impression of being at home.
