This strenuous, high-alpine mountain tour takes you to the proud summit of the Lyfispitze, towering majestically at 3,352 meters above sea level. The ascent demands absolute sure-footedness, excellent physical conditioning, and alpine experience, but it rewards you with a truly priceless panoramic view across the entire Vinschgau mountain landscape and the surrounding glaciers. For those who embrace the athletic challenge, reaching the summit cross offers a profound sense of freedom in the heart of the pristine, rugged wilderness of the Stilfserjoch National Park.
Itinerary
Starting point is the parking lot at the Zufritt Stausee, from there follow trail no. 10 to the managed Lyfi Alm. Pass the hut on the right and continue through the forest along the same trail markings until you reach the fork in the trail. Continue to the Lyfi Knott, where the last strenuous section demands a lot from you. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful mountain landscape.
