An easy hike to the locality where Geodes of Teis are found, passing by “humming stones” and “sounding stones”.
• Hiking time: 1h • Trail numbers: 11 • The hike starts at the square with the fountain behind the mineral museum. Pass by the church and follow the road through the residential estate (no. 11). Alongside the route, there are information boards about geology and botany of the area. After a 20-minute-hike you get to the “humming stone” which you can experiment with. Continue on trail no. 11 and pass through the “Gostner Graben”. A narrow path starts to the right side and leads first to a lookout and the “sounding stones” and then to the demonstration mine which shows how the Geodes of Teis are found. Return on the same trail to the starting point.
In the event of fresh snow, not all hiking trails can be groomed and opened at the same time. Please note that sometimes there can be dangerous icing on the paths.
Through the Eisacktal/Valle Isarco valley to Klausen/Chiusa; turn into Villnöss/Funes valley and drive to Mittermühl. Turn left and continue to Teis.
