Family hikings

From Compatsch to Piz and Saltria

Leisurely walk boasting breathtaking views of the Langkofel/Sassolungo and Plattkofel/Sassopiatto, passing countless mountain huts offering food and refreshments and a very unusual bench.

This hiking tour can be found in the family hiking booklet “Out and About with Nix the Witch”.
Itinerary
The trail begins at the tourist office Seiser Alm, and leads along trail no. 30a until shortly before the Hotel Ritsch, where it veers off to the left in the direction of Piz. The route can be shortened by taking the Almbus No. 11 to Ritsch Schwaige. At the fork for the Hotel Icaro, hike to your left for 100 m and you will find a giant bench, built especially for an episode of “ZDF-Fernsehgarten”, a german TV show which was recorded and broadcast on the Seiser Alm in 2013. Return to the fork and take tarred road no. 6 past the Schgaguler Schwaige mountain hut and on to the Sporthotel Sonne.
The pleasant stretch begins here, and it’s downhill all the way on trail no. 9 to Saltria, where you can take the Almbus no. 11 back to Compatsch (timetable at www.seiseralm.it/bus).

Refreshment stop along the hiking trail. Not pram-friendly.

Overview

The valley station of the Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway can be easily reached via the following connections:

  • Bus line 1 from Seis am Schlern
  • Bus line 2 from Völs am Schlern
  • Bus line 3 from Kastelruth
  • Line 170 from Bolzano/Bozen or Bressanone/Brixen main station to the Seiser Alm Aerial Cableway stop.
