The Königswiese (1622 m high mountain in the Fleimstal Alps) is located high above the South Tyrolean lowlands in the municipality of Neumarkt/Egna and in the heart of the Trudner Horn Nature Park. To the west lies the Etschtal valley, to the north the Mühlental valley and to the south the Aaltal valley, which separates it from the mighty Madruttberg mountain. the Königswiese is characterised by steep, forested flanks. To the east, the Gfriller Sattel (1450 m), a passage from Gfrill to Gschnon and up to the Trudner Horn.
Itinerary
The starting point is the car park at the lime kiln in Gschnon/Casignano. We first hike along the forest road. The first destination is the uniquely scenic Großwiese meadow. The path turns to the right (sign 4a). Once here, it is worth taking a deep breath. A scenic idyll. Isolated from all the hustle and bustle and the crowds of people, you can find peace here. We cross the entire meadow up the hill and then enter the forest again. Always on 4a, the trail goes steeply uphill through a narrow valley until you reach a short section of forest road again. Continue a few metres and turn left back onto the trail. Now only 150 metres in altitude separate us from the Königswiese. The descent is via the Gfrillner Sattel and back to Gschnon.
