Start your hike from the parking area in Winnebachtal Follow the wide forest path (marked 23), which gently ascends into the valley, leading you to the Astnerberg Alm (open from May to the end of October). From the hut, the path becomes steeper and takes you up to the waterfall, where a more relaxed section begins. Further up, a moderate ascent brings you to the Tiefrastenhütte (no rest day) and the picturesque Tiefrastensee lake.
The return follows the same route as the ascent.
For those looking to venture higher, the hut provides access to the surrounding peaks, including Hochgrubbachspitze, Kempspitze, and Eidechsspitze, which are favorites among summit seekers. Check hut opening hours to plan your visit optimally.
