The solitary Dolomites giant
All-around or up on the summit: this mountain attracts adventure
There are just two catered mountain huts on the Latemar mountain where you can take a break and in autumn in particular, adventure-seekers often walk alone across the Dolomites landscape. The Latemar crossing leads from the Reiterjoch pass via the Latemar massif to the village of Karersee/Carezza.
As a variation on the route, you can climb the Diamantidi-Turm tower, the highest Latemar peak at 2,842m. Above the Karersee lake, the Labyrinthsteig ascent leads through a crisscross of boulders. For mountain biking fans, the Latemar circuit is a particular challenge: some 40 km are conquered in five hours.
