Have you ever seen a mine from the inside? Unforgettable experiences for the entire family await at South Tyrol’s visitor mines. For example, head to the adventure mine in Villanders/Villandro to witness what was once one of the most important mining areas in all of Tyrol. Alternatively, for a diverse and unforgettable impression of the history of mining, stop by the worthwhile South Tyrol Museum of Mining, a network of five individual museums.
The „Pfunderer mine“ of Villandro was one of the most significant mining areas in Tyrol in medieval times. However, the mine was forgotten at the beginning of the 20th century. Due to the working of the cultic and museum association of Villandro the mine has been renovated in the last years and is open to the public now.
