We are a traditional Tyrolean inn next to the church in the center of Tirolo. The inn has been a family business for generations. We serve home-made and freshly prepared dishes and South Tyrolean wines in our historic, 13th century, listed building.

Arrival on the Hochmuth- already with the first step from the cablerrailway- nature purely. Our mountain inn spoils you with traditional lusciousness which comes from our own agriculture. If you enjoy and experience in a special panoramic situation in about 1.400 m above the famous health resort town of Merano and the Adige valley (Etschtal). Relax on our sun terrace and fill up with new strength for the coming excursions, wanderings or also everyday life. The special position makes our mountain inn an ideal starting point for many diverse wanderings and mountain hikes of all kind in the known Meraner to height way.

Are you looking for some peace in the village? Then you are right here! From 05.00 pm until 01.00 am at night, we serve snacks and pizza. The Sandgruberhof is located in the pedestrian zone leading to Tyrol Castle, around 10 minutes on foot from the center of the village. The historic structure of the Sandgruberhof has been fundamentally preserved to the present day. It is easy to forget time and space in the centuries-old vaulted cellar, in the garden with its spectacular views and whilst enjoying the lovingly prepared dishes and delicacies.

Our family-run restaurant offers you specialities of the South Tyrolean cuisine. We are known for our roast mutton, our Kaiserschmarren and our homemade cakes. You can reach us from Dorf Tirol starting from the restaurant Tiroler Kreuz following the forest road; from Kuens following the irrigation channel path Kuenser Waalweg; along the Merano high altitude route (Meraner Höhenweg).

The Mutkopf restaurant valley farm is an idyllic hiking destination with astonishing views over the Adige Valley (Merano side), the Venosta Valley up to the Ortler range and onto the peaks of the south-tyrolean Dolomites to the south. The Restaurant valley farm Mutkopf and the guesthouse Talbauer (Locanda) are run by members of the same family. A winding trail climbs up the mountain from the Talbauer, through the shaded forests up to a natural panoramic plateau. Here - at a height of 1684m - lies the guesthouse Mutkopf. This establishment is the last stop for hikers on the way to the Mutpeak and an ideal resting opportunity halfway to the lakes of Sopranes into the fascinating mountain landscape of the Texel Nature Park.
