Every year on Sacred Heart Sunday, the traditional and fascinating mountain fires light up anew on the mountains. In the Val Casies Valley you can see the wonderful fires (Christian symbols in the form of crosses, hearts, lettering, beacons along the mountain ranges) from the valley, and the beautiful house lighting with artistic window paintings and illuminated signs at the old farmsteads are also worth marvelling at.

On June 6, 2024 the cable car Kronplatz 2000 is open for a very special night - the "Sacred Heart Night" at the summit of Kronplatz.
Be there and experience a beautiful view of the adjacent mountain world during a picturesque sunset over the main ridge of the Alps and the Dolomites. Once the sun has set, a spectacular spectacle awaits you: fires of the Sacred Heart are lit on the surrounding peaks, illuminating the sky over the whole South Tyrol and giving it a magical atmosphere.
Lighting fires around the summer solstice has its origins in ancient times. The custom of solstice and St. John's fires has been documented since the 12th century. In the 18th century, however, the custom was reinterpreted: in 1796, the Tyrolean estates vowed to entrust the land to the "Sacred Heart of Jesus" to counter the imminent danger posed by Napoleon's invasion. Since then, this promise has been commemorated every year by lighting fires.
But this is not all: those interested in culture have the opportunity to visit the two museums at Kronplatz. Both the MMM Corones and the LUMEN Museum open their doors on this evening.
In short, the "Sacred Heart Night" at Kronplatz is an unforgettable experience for everyone who wants to experience South Tyrolean tradition up close. We are looking forward to your visit!

The earliest tradition dates back to the 19th century, when the Sacred Heart of Jesus vow was made in 1796, when the provincial councils of Tyrol met in Bozen to discuss the situation caused by the French troops under Napoleon. The Abbot of Stams, Sebastian Stöckl, appealed to them to entrust our province of South Tyrol to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and thus ask for divine assistance. Since then, the vow has been renewed annually and the fires lit on the mountain and on the hillsides. The Hafling local group of the South Tyrolean Youth Farmers cordially invites you to the traditional Sacred Heart of Jesus bonfire on the Tommen Knott. A mountain range is lit on the Ifinger. The traditional fires are also lit in Vöran at Beimsteinknott and Rotsteinknott.

We will meet up in the centre of Spinges and start our hike to the Opera 24 bunker. On our way there, we will have the chance to learn intriguing details about the builder of the Holy Sepulchre Chapel (1685) and the historical and artistic heritage of the local parish church and its small museum. We will also find out about the way of life in an 18th century farmer’s parlour, and why 400 people were burnt alive in a local farmhouse. The highest point of our hike is a bunker in Mussolini’s Alpine Wall, where we will learn about its history before enjoying a picnic on site or stopping over at a farmer’s inn in Spinges. In the event of adverse weather, we will skip the hike. You will still have the opportunity to reach the bunker by car and enjoy a stopover at a farmer’s inn in Spinges after our bunker tour.

Guided walking-tour to Kneipp at the waterfall of Barbian. "Everything we need to stay healthy has been generously given to us by nature," said pastor Sebastian Kneipp. Water, nutrition, exercise, medicinal herbs and life order - on this hike you will experience the holistic health concept of Kneipp. Water-treading in the cool mountain stream, barefoot-walking and feeling the soil, get to know the medicinal herbs and wild herbs along the way and relaxation exercises in the open air: a refreshing, relaxing hike on the trail of Kneipp. Walking time: 3 hours, return at 1 pm. Arrival by cab via Val Gardena to Ortisei to the valley station Rasciesa (1.304m). Our tour begins with the ride of the funicular (fee required) to the Rasciesa (2,254m). From the top station, take trail no. 35, lined with Swiss stone pines and delicate alpine flowers, to the Brogles Hut (2054m). Behind the hut the path joins the Adolf Munkel path, which was built as early as 1905. You walk at the foot of the Sas Rigais until you finally reach the Geisler Alm (1996m) via the 34 path. After a comfortable break, the descent follows via the 34 path to Ranui (1350m). Here the cab is already waiting to take us back to Lajen.
