Journey by bus to the Villanderer Alm - Gasserhütte (1.744m). The start is at the parking lot at the Gasserhütte. The hike leads to the Rinderplatz hut (1799m) - Samberg (1838m) - Pfunderer Berg (1523m) and at the end we visit the Villanders mine (1100m). The way back is by bus to Laion. Travel with a small bus to the Villanders mine car park (outward journey only). Departure from the village square in Barbiano at 9.30 a.m. Guided tour of the mine at 10.30 a.m. for those interested. Then hike on trail no. 3/St. Anna and 3A/ Ansitz Schloss Gravetsch (walking time 1 ½ hours). From there bus 345/ 2.59 pm to Klausen station and bus 346 from Klausen station/ 3.46 pm return to Barbian. Our trekking guide Florian will start with you from the meeting point at the parking lot in Upper Martelly Valley to an eventful day through the wonderful panoramic world of the National Park. Together with our llama boys Giacomo, Rocky, Rono, Rambo, Casper and Winnetou, who carry your backpacks in the pack saddle, Florian will lead you to the most beautiful places with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. As a certified hiking guide, he will introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Through the spotting scope you may even be able to observe some wild animals, such as deer, chamois and marmots, and thus be almost as close to them as to the national park llamas, whose soothing tranquility will make you feel calm and balanced. We will stop at one of the most beautiful view points, while you will strengthen yourself with a snack of local products from the national park and enjoy the surrounding nature. Via the Panorama Trail we return to the starting point. Another route leads us to the Lyfialm (alping pasture) with its centuries-old primeval larches on the sunny side of the Martell Valley and right to the llama enclosure, the summer quarters of the animals in Thial, nearby the biathlon center. Difference in altitude: approx. 400 m Duration: approx. 6-7 h, pure walking time (easy tour) approx. 3-4 hours Costs (snack with local products from the national park included): 60 Euro per person, 30 Euro for accompanying person The tour is suitable for experienced hikers, also for children from the age of 6 who enjoy hiking; however, they should be accompanied by another person when leading a llama. The tour is subject to change! We reserve the right for our guide to adjust the route of the tour depending on weather conditions, participant requirements or for the welfare of our animals! Some things are worth an early rise, even on holiday. You will be rewarded with the unique experience of an Alpine sunrise. We will take the cable car to reach an altitude of 2,000 metres and set off in the dark, experiencing how the new day arises from the silence of the night one step at a time. After an easy hike (approx 45 minutes, 110 meters elevation gain) to the Steinermandl panoramic platform, we will savour the magical moment when the first sun rays bathe the mountains in their bright light. The experience is rounded off by a stopover for refreshments at a mountain hut. The descent by cable car is available from 8:30 a.m. Warm clothing is recommended. Who is the event for? The Via Ferrata Testival is aimed at families and all via ferrata enthusiasts from Germany, Austria, and South Tyrol/Italy. Participation is free for visitors, and attractive ticket options are available for the ascent to the mountain station.

Under the professional guidance of a state-certified mountain guide you learn the abc of climbing at the Marchegg climbing garden. Equipment is provided free of charge. You only need to bring trekking shoes or runners and comfortable clothing. Food and drinks are available in the Marchegghof tavern nearby. The farmer’s wife herself provides the tasty, traditional fare in this extremely cosy tavern. Climbing courses: 10:00 a. m. to 12:00 p. m.; 12:00 p. m. to 2:00 p. m.; 2:00 p. m. to 4:00 p. m. (2 hours per person with a max. of 6 persons)
