Our trekking guide Florian - called Llamero in South America - welcomes you in the llama paradise and gives you an insight into the basics of llama keeping as well as the habits and characteristics of these friendly animals. After some exercises in the obstacle course, we will walk together with our llama boys Giacomo, Rocky, Rono, Rambo, Casper and Winnetou through the meadows and forests of the national park and you may let yourselves be touched by their calmness and good-naturedness while you lead them on the leash. Llamas are called the dolphins of the pasture and you will sense it. If desired (at an extra charge), the adults can relax in the llama paradise after the tour until the sausages are ready on the barbecue and the little ones can play archery and games in the Indian teepee. The llamas will watch you and continue to be close to you while snacking on their well-deserved reward. And of course, there will be enough time for photos and videos with our llama troop. Height difference: approx. 150 m Costs: 30 euros/person, 85 euros per family, 20 euros per person who does not lead a llama during the trek, possibility of a barbecue (with sausage, bread and drink) after the tour in the llama enclosure - with surcharge depending on the number of participants. Adventurous hours await our visitors in the Llama Paradise in the Upper Martell Valley, the summer quarters of the National Park New World camelids. Here you can get to know these gentle, curious animals, get very close to them while petting, combing and feeding them and, if you wish, lead them yourself on a leash through the meadows and forests of the National Park during a short trekking walk after instruction in the obstacle course. Smaller children may lead a llama on a leash in the secured area. Indian feeling in the tipi tent is on top. Of course there will be enough time for photos and videos with our loving ‘long-necks’. Meeting a llama is an unforgettable experience for young and old. Discover the Infopoint Steger Sawmill! Visitors can explore a Venetian frame saw from the 16.th century as well as the former sawmaster's house. In addition to these witnesses of Alpine craftsmanship anc cultural heritage, the infopoint also features various exhibition elements. These include a sound station for bird calls, a film booth, a visitor information system about the fauna, flora and geology of the Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park. The wolf is back! - A human exhibition The return of the wolf raises old and new questions: How much wilderness can the densely populated alpine region tolerate? What does this mean for our relationship with the wolf? How does the predator's presence change our landscapes, herds, and ourselves? The current wolf debate shows that it is not just about the wolf. This exhibition, curated by the Alpine Museum of Switzerland, looks at people and their relationship with the wolf. It shows the situation up to 2017, with people who deal with this animal by profession recounting their experiences. Many parallels can be drawn between Switzerland, which is characterized by an alpine landscape, and South Tyrol. In comparison, there are data from South Tyrol and the latest information on the wolf situation from the Office for Wildlife Management in South Tyrol.

Our trekking guide Florian will start with you from the meeting point at the parking lot in Upper Martelly Valley to an eventful day through the wonderful panoramic world of the National Park. Together with our llama boys Giacomo, Rocky, Rono, Rambo, Casper and Winnetou, who carry your backpacks in the pack saddle, Florian will lead you to the most beautiful places with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. As a certified hiking guide, he will introduce you to the local flora and fauna. Through the spotting scope you may even be able to observe some wild animals, such as deer, chamois and marmots, and thus be almost as close to them as to the national park llamas, whose soothing tranquility will make you feel calm and balanced. We will stop at one of the most beautiful view points, while you will strengthen yourself with a snack of local products from the national park and enjoy the surrounding nature. Via the Panorama Trail we return to the starting point. Another route leads us to the Lyfialm (alping pasture) with its centuries-old primeval larches on the sunny side of the Martell Valley and right to the llama enclosure, the summer quarters of the animals in Thial, nearby the biathlon center. Our journey begins with a drive through Val Gardena to the Sella Pass. Upon arrival, we start our hike towards the Rifugio Sasso Piatto. The path gently ascends on an alpine road, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Dolomites. Then we walk through gentle green meadows and finally reach the Friedrich August hut, where we take a break. From there, the path continues level until the Rifugio Sasso Piatto, from where the descent to Monte Pana begins. With the right know-how and the right equipment, the risk of an accident can be reduced or avoided - the certified guides from SAAC show you on the bike what is important in terms of accident prevention. Both theoretically and practically, the participants are taught the most important safety aspects, a correct riding technique and the right choice of material and equipment. Therefore, on 12/07 and 13/07/2025, and on 04/10 and 05/10/2025, every bike-interested person has the opportunity to deepen his knowledge and to refine his technique.  A "special edition" of the SAAC Bike Camp will take place too on Kronplatz/Plan de Corones, namely the "Girlpower Bike Camp", especially for women. Anyone who is at least 14 years old and wants to expand and force his bike awareness can participate!

With the photo series “Existential Dualism”, Bolzano-based artist Elisa Cappellari explores the presence of animals in urban spaces and the subtle boundary between nature and society, between the wild and the domesticated. The 14 photographs, taken between 2019 and 2023 in Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, and Slovakia, portray animals — such as giraffes, dogs, snakes, or cattle — in everyday, human-shaped environments: streets, zoos, museums, stables, or shops. The images speak of relationships marked by proximity and distance, dependence and power, inviting viewers to reflect on how animals are perceived in contemporary society — as living beings, but also as symbols, ornaments, or tools. Completing the exhibition are five poetic texts that delicately explore the relationship between animal, space, and observer. “I photograph animals that live alongside us. I’m interested in what happens when one living being encounters another — maybe something is born that goes beyond the image,” says Elisa Cappellari. The artist was selected as one of the four winners of the 2024 Open Call launched by the museum, focused on the relationship between humans, animals, and nature. The exhibition is included in the museum admission ticket and can be visited between the first and second floors.
