Difficult yet rewarding hike for experienced hikers with a head for heights along the Hans Frieden trail with fabulous views of the Etsch valley.
Take the cable car up the mountain to Hochmuth inn. Trail no. 24 leads steeply uphill to Steinegg inn (1420 m). Continue left on trail no. 24 (Hans Frieden Weg) on the broad but exposed track up to Leiter Alp (1522 m). Trail no. 25 leads down to Vellau (966 m). Continue further downhill on trail no. 26 through the woods to Birbamegg farm. Follow the signposts for route 26 via St. Peter and Tyrol Castle to Dorf Tirol/Tirolo.

Along the Bolzano/Bozen-Meran/Merano expressway to the exit Meran South-Sinich/Sinigo - Dorf Tirol/Tirolo - along the main street and Haslachstraße street to the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car.
Car park at the valley station of the Hochmuth cable car (cost-free for one day using the cable car, garage against payment).
