3 countries trail

Starting from Kasern/Casere in the Ahrntal valley, it is fairly flat until you reach the Kehrer Alm (hut). From this hut, there is an easy ascent to the Lahner Alm (hut). From there, the trail leads you in serpentines to the Birnlückenhütte (hut) and to the Birnlücke (2665 m). From there, it goes straight downhill again and you are in the Salzburger Land (Austria). Up to the Inner Kassalm, it goes flat again until shortly before the Krimmler Tauernhaus. The trail takes you then past the Windbachalm up to the Tauernpass. There you can reach the Schüttalkopf (2773 m). Afterwards, it goes down again to the high-altitude trail Lausitzer Weg, the Fuchsalm (hut) and back to the starting point in Kasern/Casere.
