From the Head of the Valley in St. Magdalena (1465 m), follow trail marker no. 10 along the edge of the slope to reach the forest road. Continue along this wide track to the Aschtalm (1950 m, refreshments available). From there continue westwards along the path to the Pfinnalm (2152 m). Alternatively, from the Aschtalm you can climb up on the orographic left side of the stream, passing through sparse forest and wide alpine pastures with several barns to reach the Pfinn huts.
