This scenic winter hike starts in Petersberg and leads through a peaceful snowy landscape. After a short visit to the pilgrimage site of Maria Weißenstein, the trail continues to three sunny alpine huts: Schönrast, Schmieder, and Lahner. Surrounded by stunning Dolomite views, these stops invite you to rest and enjoy the quiet beauty of nature. The route is varied but manageable – perfect for nature lovers, peace seekers, and anyone who enjoys winter hiking at a relaxed pace.
The hike starts in Petersberg, at the parking lot near the village center. Follow Trail [1] gently uphill to the pilgrimage site Maria Weißenstein.
From there, continue on the European long-distance trail [E5], through a quiet snowy landscape to the Schönrast Alm, and further on to the Schmieder Alm.
Via the Gorzsteig, you reach the Lahner Alm, offering stunning panoramic views.
The return route follows Trail [5], which reconnects with the [E5], then retrace your steps back to Maria Weißenstein and Petersberg.
Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient.
