Sas Rigais (Odle)

S.Cristina Gherdëina/St.Christina in Gröden/S.Cristina Gherdëina/S.Cristina Val Gardena, S.Crestina Gherdëina/Santa Cristina Val Gardana, Dolomites Region Val Gardena
Thanks to its bulky shape the Sas Rigais is considered one of the main peaks of the Odle peaks. It reaches 3025 m of hight and it is the highest summit together with the Furchetta.
from center
Together with the Furchëta, it is the highest peak of the Odle group. The Group is considered Reinhold Messner’s backyard. It boasts a stunning 360° view of the Puez plateau, Stevia,  Sassolungo and the Val di Funes. A demanding tour with a long ascent and descent and some unsecured passages, it requires a sure-footed approach. We are featuring the east-south trek.
Itinerary
Access: walk from the Col Raiser mountain station to the Rif. Firenze/Regensburger Hütte,
towards Plan Ciautier meadow (path no. 13). Strenuous ascent along Val dla Salieries to reach the access of the via ferrata between Furchëta and Sas Rigais.
Can also be reached without the cablecar from Selva Gardena via Daunei-Juac (+1 h). Or from Ortisei from the Seceda mountain station in an easterly direction below the Odle trail no. 2B towards the Pieralongia hut.

Descent: halfway down the south face, at a fork you can choose whether to continue towards the Forcella del Mesdì or take the lower path, which is a little easier. Then return to the starting
point. Alternatively, the descent can also be made via the ascent trail (east).
Distance 10.8 Km
Duration 6h:30 min
Ascent 1105 m
Descent 1105 m
Highest point 3025 m
Lowest point 2037 m

All via ferratas come with their own day tour and are well secured: however, they are meant only for experienced climbers.
Make sure you do not suffer from vertigo and can deal with heights, are sure-footed and physically fit, and don’t forget that once you have reached the summit, you will need to climb back down!
We recommend newcomers hire a mountain guide to accompany them.
Climb the via ferratas at your own risk and peril!
To tackle a via ferrata with children, it is advisable to obtain further information and to be
accompanied by a mountain guide.
The via ferratas are not suitable for dogs.

Outside and even during the recommended seasons, some sections may still be snow-covered or particularly slippery, depending on the weather conditions. Please consult the local mountain guides Gardena Guides or Catores mountain guides before starting your tour.
