A winter alpine hut hike that starts in the small holiday village of Karersee | Carezza and leads through a snow-covered fairy-tale landscape to Welschnofen | Nova Levante. Along the way, you can enjoy impressive views of the snow-covered Dolomites while walking through forest paths and gently sloping meadows. Along the route, several huts invite you to take a cozy break, including the Franzin Alm hut, the Ochsenhütte hut, the Restaurant Tschein, the Frommeralm hut, and the Hagneralm hut.

Itinerary

From the car park at the valley station of the Paolina chairlift, walk past the little church of St. Sebastian | San Giuseppe and up the road König Laurin Straße | Via Re Laurino through the village of Karersee | Carezza until you reach the street Nigerstraße | Via Nigra, just before the Franzin Alm hut. Then follow the Nigerstraße | Via Nigra for about 500m until you reach the 'Kaiserstein' car park. From here, take path [9] to path [1A], which you follow to the Ochsenhütte hut. Follow the road Nigerstraße | Via Nigra again for a short distance past the Restaurant Tschein to reach path [1A], which leads below the road to the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra. During this stretch, you can make a short turn towards the Frommeralm hut. From the Nigerpass | Passo Nigra, continue on path [1] to the Schillerhof hut (permanently closed). To reach Welschnofen | Nova Levante, turn back a little on path [1] and take path [4A] at the junction. On the way you will pass the Hagneralm hut.

Refreshment points: Franzin Alm hut, Ochsenhütte hut, Restaurant Tschein, Frommeralm hut, Hagneralm hut.

This excursion is also recommended in the opposite direction from Welschnofen | Nova Levante (on the way back you can take the bus at the Paolina chairlift).

ATTENTION: Schillerhof hut closed due to staff shortage.
