From the Head of the Valley in the Val Casies Valley – S. Maddalena 1465 m (refreshment stop, paid parking), follow the trail marker No. 12 across the bridge. Here, turn left and, after the Schlosser Hof farm, take another left, before, after a few meters, turning right onto the old cattle drive path. Near the Burgerhof farm, cross the bridge over the Pfoibach stream and continue on the forest road through the woods. Occasionally, small clearings open up, offering impressive views of the valley and the steeply rising Braies Dolomites. After a while, we cross the stream again and reach a meadow. Here, the path splits: to the left is trail No. 12a, while to the right, we follow the trail No. 12 further into a clearing. After five hairpin turns, at the sixth turn, we cross the Almweg 2000. Here, turn right and continue for another 500 meters on the Almweg 2000 to reach the Kaser Alm hut 2076 m. Refreshment stop.
Recommended:
Hiking boots with good grip, high-quality socks to prevent blisters, weather-appropriate clothing, rain jacket, rain protection, dry T-shirt and sun protection (sunscreen/hat). Pay attention to stay hydrated on hot days – always carry enough water in your backpack! In higher altitudes, summer storms can quickly become dangerous – check the weather forecast in advance and plan your tour carefully. Also a first aid kit should always be carried!
