Twelve kilometers long, the Marlinger Waalweg trail is a popular hiking trail which runs along the former irrigation channels, the longest of its kind in South Tyrol. Starting at the Töllbrücke bridge, the 250 year-old path gently ascends through apple orchards and woods to firmer and more level ground. After pausing to admire the medieval Lebenberg Castle, hikers continue slightly downhill along the slope of Marling mountain to the village of Lana.
From Marling station take the Vinschgau Railway line to Töll. From here follow the signs to the entrance to the Marling Waalweg trail. The Waalweg runs above Marling as far as Oberlana. Here there is a short, steep descent to the bus station, from where bus no. 211 returns to Marling. Leave the bus at Marlinger Brücke bridge and then take path no. 33 to the centre of the village of Marling.

No special equipment is necessary. However, suitable hiking clothes, mountain boots and sufficient drinking are required.
To the entrance: From Marling/Marlengo station take the Vinschgau Railway line 250 to Töll/Tel.
Return to the station of Marling/Marlengo: from the bus station in Lana, the bus no. 211 returns to Marling. Leave the bus at Marlinger Brücke bridge and then take path no. 33 to the centre of the village of Marling/Marlengo.
From Meran/Merano or the valley Vinschgau/Val Venosta to the station of Marling/Marlengo.
On the public car park next to the station of Marlengo can be parked for free for 120 minutes (with parking ticket!). For a longer parking time parking tickets can be solved (0,50 € / hr), whereby two hours are always free.
