Itinerary

Tour Start
Birkenwald parking lot

Tour End
Birkenwald parking lot

Our tour starts early in the morning from the Birkenwald parking lot. From there, we take path no. 26 towards Gasthaus Prünster. The ascent leads through picturesque forests, which radiate a special atmosphere at dawn.

Shortly before Gasthaus Prünster, we turn onto path no. 1A and later onto path no. 1, which leads to the Merano High Trail no. 24. Following the Merano High Trail no. 24 eastwards, we reach the "Hohe Wiege" just before sunrise, an excellent viewpoint. The view of the surrounding mountains and valleys in the golden light of the sunrise is an unforgettable experience. An ideal moment to pause and take in the tranquility of the mountain world.

The return route then takes us westwards on the Merano High Trail no. 24 to the Nasereit refuge, where a cozy and rustic alpine breakfast awaits us. Refreshed, we continue along the Alpine Trail Waterfall along the Zielbach, where we come across various viewpoints offering great views of the pools and small waterfalls along the way. Those who wish can take a break at the viewpoint and picnic area to enjoy the panorama.

Our next destination is Gasthaus Wasserfall, which is located right next to the Partschins Waterfall (the highest in South Tyrol). From there, a short path leads us to the viewpoint directly above the waterfall, which is impressive not only because of its height but also for its healing climate.

Anyone who wants to shorten the return journey from here can take bus no. 265, which regularly stops at Gasthaus Wasserfall. For those who prefer to continue on foot, the return path takes about 20 minutes past the waterfall along path no. 26 back to the Birkenwald parking lot.
