The “Rotlahner” – an easy and well-known ski mountain in the Gsiesertal Valley Alps
Starting point: Gsiesertal Valley – St. Magdalena, Head of the Valley (1465 m)

Difficulty: medium; except for two steep slopes (below the Kasermähder Alm and in the Heimwaldjoch area) no technical difficulties

Slope exposure: mainly southwest
From the Head of the Valley in St. Magdalena (1465 m) follow trail marker no. 47 over the bridge, immediately left, and after a few metres right again. The snowshoe or ski tour runs parallel to the toboggan run and along the Tscharniet stream to the Köfler Alm (1806 m). Pass the big boulder, keep straight (do not follow the forest road) and climb steeply through the forest, past larch and stone pine trees creaking under the snow, up to the Kasermähder Alm (2048 m). The gentle snowy slopes of the “Stierböden” then lead to the Heimwaldjöchl (2648 m); from there, turn right and in about 15 minutes reach the summit of the Rotlahner.
