A little above Hotel Panider Sattel (1443 m) you will find the trail n. 3A, which leads in several loops through meadows and woodlands to the picturesque, small hamlet Pufels situated on the eastern slope of the Puflatsch.
Pufels (1484 m) is a parish of the municipality of Castelrotto and was already mentioned in documents in 1288. On the day of Saint Leonhard, the inhabitants of Bulla worshipped the Patron saint of their church and in older days they had to renew their pledge to the Alpe di Siusi (Almeid).
From Pufels, climbing up the east-facing steep slope of Puflatsch, the so-called Schnürlsteig, marked with 24, leads to the Filln cross (2150 m) on the Puflatsch summit. Because of several dangerous spots, this trail is only recommended for experienced and sure-footed hikers. The path takes its name from the founder of the former section of the Alpine Club Val Gardena, Josef Tragseil "vulgo Schnürl" from Innsbruck. He was the first to mark paths in the Val Gardena mountains and built the above-mentioned path from Pufels up to Puflatsch.
At the summit of Puflatsch, we first follow the markings (Puflatsch Circumnavigation) to the mountain station of the Puflatsch Telemix cable car in a south-westerly direction. Take a break at the Puflatsch mountain inn (2174 m) and then follow trail 14 down to Compatsch (1842 m). Here you will find the mountain station of the Alpe di Siusi cable car, which will take you back to Siusi.
