The Lagazuoi circuit

Dolomites Region Alta Badia
from center
History does not have to be boring; it can be experienced in person. Thus the panoramic ski circuit on the Lagazuoi Mountain can provide an exciting timetrip through the history of the World War 1 in the Dolomites.

On this varied ski circuit, you ski from Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa or Badia on the pistes of Alta Badia as far as San Cassiano/Armentarola. From there, shuttle taxis (not included in the ski pass price) take you to the Falzarego Pass (2,105 m) from where the Lagazuoi tour starts in earnest. You can, of course, also get to the Falzarego Pass directly by using local buses (fare not included in the skipass) The Lagazuoi cable car takes you to the eponymous mountain (2,778 m). To warm up, we would recommend the descent on the Lagazuoi piste.

The red run goes back to the pass and to the valley station of the cable car. After a short ascent, the Armentarola piste, 7.5 km long, awaits you. This is one of the most impressive downhill tracks in the Alps and you will be afforded a memorable view of the legendary Fanes valley. The piste leads you through a charming valley with craggy mountain faces and steep ice falls down towards Sas Dlacia.

In Sas Dlacia the well-known Noriker horse carriage awaits the skiers to take them to the Armentarola ski lift, the entrance to the ski area of Alta Badia. The horse of the mountain race Noriker is a heavy draft horse, strong and long-lived, native of the Alpine valleys between Italy and Austria. Originally used by our farmers in agricultural activities, the Noriker are strong, sociable and friendly animals. Each coachman in Sas Dlacia has a minimum of 3 horses, so that the pulling is done in rotation and does not tire the animals.

Starting from the slopes in Alta Badia it will take you approximately half a day to complete the ski circuit. Whilst enjoying your adventure on skis around the Lagazuoi, you may also branch off to explore the winter sports resort of Cinque Torri which you can reach on skis from the Falzarego Pass. The excursion to Lagazuoi is unique both for the beauty of the landscape and for the numerous historical testimonies that you encounter along the way.
