A panoramic walk along the Fleims railway track

San Lugano/San Lugano, Truden/Trodena
from center

This excursion follows the old railway line of the Val di Fiemme. This railway line was built during the First World War and between 1918 and 1936 was mainly used for freight traffic. The walk winds along the sunny slope, among lovely vineyards. This panoramic tour is particularly worthwhile for the wonderful views over the Bassa Atesina.

Itinerary

The walk begins at the car park at the beginning of the village of Montagna, passes in front of the old railway station and proceeds in the direction of Pinzano. The path goes slightly uphill between fruit orchards and vineyards, over the Gleno viaduct and reaches the idyllic village of Gleno. The numerous viewpoints are a constant invitation to stop and enjoy the view and the extraordinary scenery. You go through lit tunnels and walk past the majestic Enn castle until the farms of Doladizza, which enjoy protected status, and the path leads to path no. 3. The walk can continue until Fontanefredde or S. Lugano. If you want to finish here, you can take the path "Wein-Wald-Wasser-Weg" (no. 4) and turn into the centre of Montan/Montagna.
If you do not want to walk back, you can get back to Montagna by bus (line 140).
