Hiking

Hike: Crossing Innerfeldtal valley - Fischleintal valley

Innichen/S. Candido, Innichen/San Candido, Dolomites Region 3 Zinnen
from center

One of the most challenging day hikes in the Sexten Dolomites.

  • The best spots in the Sexten Dolomites in one day
  • Experience the quiet side of the Three Peaks
  • Demanding tour on good hiking trails
Itinerary

The tour begins with a bus or shuttle ride into the Innerfeldtal valley, from where a wide hiking trail leads to the Dreischusterhütte at 1,626 m. From the hut, the path runs along the western edge of the valley floor on trail No. 105 to a junction, then continues across gravel fields and over the stream to the Innichbacher Graben. In several serpentines, the path leads steeply up below the faces of the Morgenkopf and its projecting tower to the Gwengalpenjoch (2,446 m) – a saddle west of the Toblinger Knoten. A spectacular panoramic view opens up here: the Three Peaks stand impressively in the foreground, flanked by the Prags Dolomites, the mountains around Cortina, Monte Piana, and the Sexten Dolomites. The descent leads past the Sextner Stein via trail No. 105 to the Dreizinnenhütte (2,405 m). From there, hike northeast on trail No. 102 across the Bödenalm with its two small lakes and further through the impressive Altensteintal valley, dominated by the mighty south face of the Einserkofel, down to the Talschlusshütte in the Fischleintal valley. The return journey follows the valley path to the Dolomitenhof and from there either on foot or by bus back to the starting point.
