This hike is a journey through nature and inward reflection. Starting from the village of Deutschnofen, the trail winds through quiet forests and across gentle alpine meadows to one of South Tyrol’s most important pilgrimage sites: Maria Weißenstein.
Along the way, cozy mountain huts invite you to pause and enjoy local flavors while taking in the calm, scenic surroundings. Step by step, you leave the everyday behind, until the baroque sanctuary emerges—an inspiring place of peace and contemplation.
Ideal for those who seek a slower pace, love nature, and enjoy combining outdoor activity with cultural and spiritual discovery.
The hike begins at the Bar Arche parking area in Deutschnofen (1,350 m). Follow trail [1] heading south, through light forest and meadows, until you reach the Laab Alm (1,648 m) – a great spot for a break with a view.
Continue along trail [1] to the Petersberger Leger Alm (1,770 m), peacefully located among open alpine pastures.
From there, take trail [2], which gently descends through forest and open clearings to the pilgrimage destination: Maria Weißenstein (1,520 m), with its impressive baroque basilica.
Return via the long-distance hiking trail [E5], which leads you back to the Bar Arche parking lot in Deutschnofen.
Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient.

- 184 from Karersee | Lago di Carezza, Karerpass | Passo Costalunga, Welschnofen | Nova Levante
- 184 or 181 from Deutschnofen | Ponte Nova, Stenk
- 184 from Eggen | Ega, Obereggen
- 181 or 184 from Weissenstein | Pietralba, Petersberg | Monte San Pietro
- 182 (change 181 o 184) from Steinegg | Collepietra, Gummer | San Valentino
- 180 (change 181 o 184) from Val di Fassa
