This hiking circuit passes through all five nature reserves on the Natz-Schabs high plateau: Raiermoos in Raas/Rasa, Sommersürs, Zuzzis and Hairer in Viums/Fiumes and Laugen, south of Natz/Naz.
The hike starts in Viums (900 m) on the 16 km² high plateau above Brixen/Bressanone, in the district of Natz-Schabs/Naz-Sciaves. Trail no. 1 leads to the Sommersürs biotope, located between the villages of Viums and Natz. The regeneration of the peat bog created a biotope of about 2 square hectares.
Trail no. 5 leads west, past a former NATO area, to the Flötscher Weiher pond. Cross the main road and continue east from Messner Bühel hill to Moser in Raas/Rasa (865 m). The route continues south to Raiermoos, a large biotope with ponds and reed beds at the edge of the forest. It also serves as a protected reserve for numerous bird species and other kinds of flora and fauna.
From here the trail rises up to the reservoir and follows trail no. 6 to the outdoor sports area. Cross the road and head towards the barracks, past the Laugen biotope to Natz (889 m). Follow trail no. 1 through the Natz village centre as far as the Sommersürs biotope and then back to Viums.
The info boards on this nature trail provide interesting background to the Raiermoos biotope.
