This very rewarding hike dotted with breath-taking views from the peak of Mount Kronplatzrequires a certain amount of stamina: Although the trail is not a particularly difficult one, it runs along a relatively long route.
Setting off from the Kronplatz cable car valley station in Casola-Gassl near Valdaora-Olang, take the forestry road no. 3 past the hamlet Sorafurcia-Geiselsberg. Continue uphill along the eastern slopes of Mount Kronplatz to the Malga Oberegger-Obereggeralm mountain inn. Cross the ample pastures without straying too far from the cable car pylons until you reach the final section of the hike: a treeless forestry road which leads all the way to the top of Mount Kronplatz, at 2275 m above sea level.
Casola-Gassl is easily reached by bus or car via Valdaora-Olang or Passo Furcia-Furkelpass.
