This winter hike from Obereggen to Lake Carezza is a peaceful journey through the heart of the Dolomites. The well-maintained trail leads through snowy forests, open clearings, and traditional alpine farms. The scenic Templ Trail offers a calm, enchanting route with sweeping views of the Latemar mountains. Along the way, cozy stops like the Häusler Sam alpine hut invite you to rest and warm up. Upon reaching Lake Carezza, a breathtaking winter scene unfolds – the frozen lake surrounded by majestic peaks is a true highlight. This hike is perfect for those seeking tranquility, nature, and the magic of the Dolomites in winter.
Itinerary

The hike starts in Obereggen, at the upper parking lot below the ski slopes. Follow trail [9] to the Bewallerhof farm, then continue on the scenic Templ Trail [8] through snowy forests and peaceful meadows toward Lake Carezza. A short detour to the Häusler Sam alpine hut is possible by following trail [S], then rejoining trail [8] to the lake. Return the same way.

Alternative route:
From Eggen village square, follow trail [10], then [8B], and finally connect with trail [8].

Good winter equipment is required (winter boots, possibly also crampons if needed, etc.).

Getting to the starting point of the tour by public transport is easy and convenient.

- 180 + 184 from Karer See | Lago di Carezza, Karersee | Carezza, Karerpass | Passo Costalunga, Fassatal | Val di Fassa
- 184 from Birchabruck | Ponte Nova, Stenk, Eggen | Ega
- 184 from Weissenstein | Pietralba, Petersberg | Monte San Pietro, Deutschnofen | Nova Ponente (or 181 and change 184)   
- 182 + 184 from Steinegg | Collepietra, Gummer | San Valentino
