This tour is one of the classics in the border triangle, is very demanding and not recommended for bikers with a fear of heights.

Itinerary

TThis tour starts from Mals railway station and follows the Via Claudia Augusta. It is a remarkably demanding tour up to the valley to Schleis on to the "Polsterhof" to Schlinig. Behind the village, follow the forest road on the left side of the valley to the Alp of Schlinig, from where the trail becomes increasingly steeper. From the waterfall, it is only a few metres in altitude to the refuge Sesvenna, then continue over the Pass of Schlinig across the Italian-Swiss border to the ravine Uina, a smuggler's path carved into the rocks. After the spectacular canyon, the route is relaxed as it descends through the Uina Valley into the Lower Engadine to Sur En. There follow the cycle path on the left until shortly before Scuol, where the next long climb awaits. Through the wild and romantic S-charl Valley, passing the picturesque miner's village and the Alp Astras, the path climbs steadily up towards the Pass Costainas, over which a pleasing, not too painful trail leads. Via Lü down reach the Mustair Valley. There the cycle path leads via Mustair and Laatsch back to Mals.
