Start at the "Riegl" parking lot in Pfunders, 70 meters beyond the barrier of the forest path. Here, the summer trail no. 15 begins, leading uphill through a dense forest. Alternatively, you can follow the forest road, which steadily ascends for about 3 km to an elevation of 1,860 m.
From there, continue straight across meadows, passing a rustic, unstaffed alpine hut on your left, and head toward the steep slope below the Mitterhofer Alm (also unstaffed). Climb this slope to reach the small material cable car at 2,150 m. Next, ascend diagonally into a hollow, passing another hut on the right, until you arrive at the upper stall at 2,277 m.
The trail then continues through a left-hand hollow, leading to a rock formation at 2,480 m. Climb to the right of this formation to reach the ridge (2,560 m) and follow it to the summit of the Hörndle (2,603 m) with its summit cross.
The descent follows the same route as the ascent.
