From Lana via Foiana to Tesimo

Take the bus to Lana di Sopra (“Gampenparkplatz” bus stop right by the car park on the right-hand side of the Passo Palade road near “Druckerei Gruber” printing shop). Next head briefly uphill on the Passo Palade road until after a few minutes the Brandis irrigation channel path branches off to the left to Lana di Sotto. Follow the path for approx. 500 m, past the Lanegg Convent of the Sisters of the German Order and continue right on the old Steinplattenweg (trail no. 1A), cross over the Passo Palade road, to the St. George Church, which was built in Carolingian times. After crossing the approach road to Foiana, the trail (no. 1) heads uphill, partly as an access road to the Kirchtaler and Brünnler farms, and then becomes trail no. 1A up to the lovely Renaissance residence Aichholz. From here the path climbs steeply for a short while up into the centre of Foiana (1 hr 15 min to this point). Now turn immediately left, past the interesting museum of farming, take the farm track (no. 8) down to the Obertalmühle (refreshment stop) and head south up to a tarmac road. Turn left on this road following the signposts for trail no. 7 and after a short while turn left again, leaving the tarmac road, down a gully. Now either turn right onto trail no. 7 and stay in the valley, past the Narauner Weiher pond to a small tarn beneath the pillars supporting the Passo Palade road, or take the 20 minute-long diversion straight on along trail no. 5 up to the St. Hippolyt Church with its splendid views and back down again along the contemplative trail on the south side, then cross the Passo delle Palade road further down to the tarn under the bridge. Continue, keeping right, on the trail marked no. 5 to the main road to Tesimo and from here take the footpath into the village centre (10 minutes).
