Sebastian Kneipp When Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897) discovered the healing powers of water, the 28-year-old was suffering from tuberculosis and doctors had already given up on him. He healed himself by taking dips in the icy Danube. In 1884, he used his knowledge to cure patients for the first time.
