Hike to the Plattner alp hut

Pfalzen/Falzes, Dolomites Region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones
Easy hike from Platten to the alp hut Plattner Alm, with beautiful views on Kronplatz, Puster Valley and Dolomites.
from center

A leisurely family walk from the mountain hamlet of Platten, situated above Pfalzen at an altitude of around 1,600 metres, to the charming Plattner Alm alp hut, which in summer invites you to linger and enjoy the panoramic views of the nearby peaks. Even from the starting point, your gaze can wander over Kronplatz and the beautiful Puster Valley.
This easy hike follows well-maintained paths, with regular openings in the woodland offering views of Pfalzen, the Pustertal Sonnenstraße and the surrounding peaks. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs.

Itinerary

From the car park in Platten, follow the meadow path and shortly afterwards you will reach the wide, slightly ascending forest path (marked 67), which leads through a shady larch forest to the rustic Plattner Alm, at 1942 m altitude. Along the way, the forest repeatedly provides a beautiful view of Pfalzen and the surrounding peaks. The easy tour does not require any special equipment, but it is not suitable for strollers or push chairs.

The return journey follows the same route. However, if you’d like to go even higher, you can continue hiking from the Plattner Alm alp hut to the summit of Plattnerspitz (2,428 m), Bärentalerspitze or Sambock (Pfunderer Höhenweg – sure-footedness required), and descend from there to Platten.

The alp hut Plattner Alm is the starting point for further hikes. For example, you can ascend to the summit of Plattnerspitz or Bärentalerspitze.

The mountain hamlet of Platten cannot be reached by public transport. Take bus route 421 or 422 from Bruneck bus station to Pfalzen, getting off at the Rathaus stop, from where you can walk to Platten following trail markers 18 and 19 (approx. 1.5 hours).
Directions

After about 400 m, at the junction, turn left onto Plattner Straße and follow it for about 8 km to the car park in Platten (1,600 m), where the hike begins.
