from center

Resciesa is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Puez - Odle Nature Park and is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Val Gardena. This loop hike takes you from the top station of the Resciesa funicular to the summit cross. Passing then by the S. Croce Chapel you return to the starting point. Suitable for hikers of all ages, this easily hiked route guarantees spectacular panoramic views, extending from the Valle Isarco to the Sciliar area and to the Passo Sella.

Itinerary

The starting point of this scenic hike is the top station of the Raschötz funicular, easily reached from Ortisei. From the very first steps heading northeast, you are immersed in a fascinating alpine landscape: across the “Costa dl Cason,” the trail follows route no. 31 through idyllic meadows and breathtaking views.
At the junction, the path continues towards Außerraschötz, leading you to the highlight of the tour – the summit cross at 2,281 meters. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a sweeping panorama: from the Eisack Valley to the enchanting Villnöss Valley, and across the striking Dolomite giants from the Sciliar all the way to the Sella Pass.
The descent takes you to the charming Holy Cross Chapel, built in 1755 at over 2,200 meters and lovingly restored in 2012. This little gem invites you to pause for a break and take in the peaceful atmosphere. From here, trail no. 35 leads to the welcoming Raschötz Hut, the perfect place to enjoy traditional dishes before making your way back to the top station.
Throughout the hike, you will be accompanied by spectacular Dolomite vistas, ideal for both admiring and photographing. For the return to Ortisei, you can either take the funicular back down or choose the sporty option: a two-three hour hike along trail no. 10B and then no. 10, offering yet another wonderful experience of unspoiled nature.
