This charming winter hike starts at the parish church in the center of Ortisei and leads to the picturesque St. Jacob's Church – the oldest church in Val Gardena. The route passes through forest paths and historic farms with panoramic views over the valley.
The starting point is the parish church of Ortisei. Follow the signs towards San Giacomo until you reach the small hamlet of the same name. Near the Hotel Ansitz Jakoberhof, a trail branches off to the left and ascends gently to St. Jacob’s Church.
For the return, follow trail no. 32, which passes by the Peza Farm, a protected historical site. At the next junction, turn right, following the signpost to Ortisei, and return along the same route to the starting point.
Visit in the late afternoon for golden light and peaceful moments at this historical site.
By car: A22 to the Chiusa exit → direction Val Gardena → Ortisei town center
Public transport: bus from Bolzano line 350, from Brixen line 360, from Chiusa line 351, from Ponte Gardena line 350/360 or from Castelrotto line 172 to Ortisei in Val Gardena
