Discover the most beautiful alpine huts around Maranza on a varied mountain bike tour through the South Tyrolean mountains. This tour is ideal if you want to combine a sporting challenge with relaxing stops at traditional mountain huts.
The starting point is at the Gitschberg gondola in Meransen at 1,428 metres. From there, follow the forest road, initially along trail no. 12, then trail no. 14 and finally trail no. 12 again. The route passes the Pichlerhütte at 1,918 metres.
From there, the route continues uphill. Trail no. 20 leads to the Nesselhütte at 2,113 metres and then continues to the Gitschhütte at 2,210 metres.
The route then follows the same way back to the Pichlerhütte and continues downhill to the Bacherhütte at 1,744 metres. Trails no. 14A, 14 and 6 lead to the Altfasstal car park. Finally, you cycle through the village back to the starting point. The finishing point of the tour is the Gitschberg gondola.
Don’t have your own bike with you? You’ll find the right bike at Bike Rental Peppi by the church in Maranza or at Rentasport at the Gitschberg cable car valley station.
From Mühlbach, follow the SP149 uphill towards Meransen. After around 7 kilometres, you reach the village. From there, continue to the Gitschberg valley station and its car park, the starting point of the tour.
