A short and easy hike on the Latzfonser-Villanderer Alm mountain pastures with fantastic views and convenient rest stops.
Starting from the Kaseregg/Kasereck parking area (1,959 m) follow the wide path on trail n. 15, before arriving at Käserei Jochalm dairy (1,960 m). The track climbs gently through a small, sparse wood past mountain pines skirting a flat hill, (the so-called pole, Stange in German) to reach the Gruber Alm pasture. From there head west to the Stöffelhütte (2,057 m) where you enjoy magnificent views of the Villanderer Alm and the Dolomites.
To return, follow trail no. 15/A through the forest below the Stöfflhütte past the Gfohler Alm hut, to the Jochalm and back to the Kasereck parking area.
The alpine pastures around the Jochalm (cheese dairy) are a paradise for children.
